Namaste loves!

Well, we are in
India.
I can tell this by the snake charmer[ish] music that is constantly blasting
outside our window, and the skirmish that just broke out over the price of one
onion at the little market across the street. Training
camp took its toll on me physically and emotionally, but being there was worth
every day. So far we have had the opportunity to visit two orphanages and a
leper colony. I have to say God is most definitely alive and working in India! The
orphans stole my heart the minute I met them. Not only are they the cutest
little things, but their love for Christ is beyond evident. When asked what
they want to do when they grow up, almost every one of them will reply "Go to Bible College".
Also the three-year-olds lead prayer before lunch. It's adorable. To the Asha
House orphans, who I will be working with most of the time, I am "Kasey-Auntie"
or just "auntie". We will get to work with the orphans three days a week,
tutoring and loving on them!!!

My first leper
colony experience was unforgettable. To see people with extreme deformities
continuing to do everyday things with little or no help amazes me.  After speaking with the colony leader we were
allowed to go hut-to-hut to talk with and pray for lepers and their families.
All were extremely hospitable, letting us sit on their beds, their only piece
of furniture- and offering us food, even though they have to beg for money
every day. Hopefully as our relationships grow over time, we will be able to
talk more intimately about God and share His word.

Things you
should know about India:

-It's not crazy
hot. Today I was even cold for about 20 minutes!

-There really
are cows EVERYWHERE. They don't look very holy though. They're actually
ridiculously skinny. There is also a crazy amount of stray dogs, pigs, camels,
peacocks and water buffalo roaming around as well. Oh and our neighbor keeps a
monkey on a leash.

-Blondes don't
exist. I am possibly the only one in this country at the moment. People kind of
go into shock when they see me. I am looking into buying a scarf so I can stop
giving them heart attacks.

-Traffic is
ridiculous. There are stop lights but apparently red and green can both mean go.  I swear today there were six lanes
of cars on a two lane road. We're adapting and starting to view each ride as more of an adventure now.
Possibly even fun?!?

Basically, India is
awesome. Our team rocks, and we are learning how to speak love and life into
each other daily. Indian babies are absolutely gorgeous and I kinda wanna sneak
one home. (just kidding mom!). Our house is amazing and we are turning it into
a home. God is good.

I miss you all
so much!

Love, Kasey

P.S. HAPPY
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARRIE and EMILY!!! I love you girls.
