When a friend decided to have me tag along to his church during my freshman year of high school, I was amazed by what I saw. Tons of high school kids having fun worshiping God. It wasn't forced. It was a choice. Sure, there were adult leaders to guide; but mainly the worship and bible studies were led by kids! I instantly immersed myself into the Good Shepherd youth group program, knowing that I wanted to be part of this family. It changed my life. Wednesday night bible studies that were technically meant to end at 9:00 went till 11, and when we got kicked out of the youth room so the church could close down we all spilled into the nearest starbucks. We became a family; discussing how God was working in our lives and how we could better serve Him. These kids became my best friends, my family. Not only did we see each other at bible study, services, and youth group - but we began to hang out outside of church on a regular basis. Knowing that I could surround myself with my Christian brothers and sisters strengthened my life immensely. The "churchies" helped mold me into the person I am today. God is good.
